A Collection of Learning Modules on the People of the Confederated Salish and
Kootenai Tribes and the Natural World
In the beginning, when I saw this land, it was beautiful. This land was good. Mitch Smallsalmon, 1977
The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Division of Fish, Wildlife, Recreation and Conservation (FWRC) have developed a series of nationally award-winning educational resources, including Fire on the Land, Explore the River, and the Lower Flathead River Interactive Map. First released as Flash-based interactive DVDs, all three have been updated and converted to web-based media thanks to funding provided by the Tribal Education Department. This means they no longer require Flash Player or a DVD player. We are excited to make these resources more broadly available to educators, students, resource professionals and anyone else interested in the history and culture of the Salish, Kootenai, and Pend d'Oreille people and their relationship to their homeland.
